The collages, although they express various themes, are grouped together because of the visual similarities resulting from the compositional technique. This technique is used in the search for new ideas and images. It has also proven an excellent means for elaborating given topics.

Images taken from various sources are partially or totally destroyed with a solvent and then reconstructed into new forms and compositions. In some pieces, the transformation is total; in others the original material is still recognizable. The emphasis is on the process of discovering emerging forms and meaning.

The dark and muddy surfaces created by the solvent are often contrasted with strong pure colors. The compositional structure tends to be given by the torn paper strips.
